With more than 70% of its surface above 1,800 meters, it ranges from 1,500 meters from the bottoms of the valleys, to 3,404 meters from the Aneto. In the Posets - Maladeta Natural Park we can enjoy the privilege of observing some of the glaciers that still exist in the Pyrenees, such as the mythical Aneto glacier in the Maladeta massif or the Llardana glacier in the Posets massif.

Life is staggered according to height and environmental conditions. At a lower altitude we find rowan, hazelnut and birch trees, on the more humid slopes there are beech, pine and fir trees, and at the higher elevations Scots pine gives way to black pine. Among this vegetation a varied fauna is sheltered. Marmots, esasy to detect due to their high-pitched whistles, wild boars and chamois (as the chamois is known in Aragon), are the easiest large mammals to observe, but also partridges, Pyrenean newts, vipers, griffon vultures, bearded vultures and Golden eagles, resist the harshness of the highest heights.

Three valleys, Benasque, Chistau and Barrabés, in which the relationship between man and environment has been configured in a balanced way, benefiting nature. Thus, livestock pallets, piles, forests, mowing meadows, huts and living hedges, constitue a heritage of intelligent and sustainable uses and exploitation.

The Posets-Maladeta Park is one of the Portected Natural Areas of Aragon certified with the Q for Tourist Quality, a mark that guarantees optimal levels of quality in the facilities and services for visiting visitors.
