Focus on the Sierra de Guara

The Sierra de Guara is located in the province of Huesca, in Aragonese Spain. Little-known until the 1970s, it owes its reputation to its spectacular limestone cliffs, canyons, waterfalls and natural bridges. It's an ideal destination for nature lovers. The Sierra y Canyons de Guara Natural Park is the largest protected natural area in Aragon, covering more than 80,000 hectares.

    The Sierra and its canyons

The Sierra is an incredible playground for canyoning enthusiasts. There are no fewer than sixty canyons. There's something for every taste and level. So strap on your harnesses and let's get down to business. The Sierra is packed with canyons of all kinds, from the very aquatic to the aquatic to the dry, and above all there's something for every level. Whether you're experienced or not, whether you prefer jumps, slides or you're not too keen on abseiling or long approach steps, there's something to satisfy your exploratory fantasies. What canyoneers have to say!

One of the best known is the Mascún, certainly one of the most beautiful canyons in the region, but not the least arduous, because this canyon has to be earned. The approach to the start of the canyon takes 2? hours. It is, however, a very beautiful walk during which you can spot vultures, lammergeiers and Egyptian vultures, wild goats and visit an abandoned village.

In the top 10 is the Peonera, a lovely watery canyon that's great fun.

For fans of great verticals, there's the Portiacha and Otin canyons.

So, as you can see, there are plenty of canyons in the Sierra de Guara, all with their own special features.
